SOUNDERS FC: O'brian White out indefinitely

As if the injury to Zakuani wasn’t bad enough for the Sounders, today the news got worse.

Forward O’brian White underwent surgery today to remove a blood clot in his leg. White, who has started all seven games this year is out indefinitely. When asked when he thought White may return to action, Head Coach Sigi Schmid had this to say.

To Continue..."That’s really open-ended. I think they’ve really got to make a determination and figure out what exactly caused the clot and until they can do that what usually happens is people are on blood-thinning medication and while you’re on blood-thinning medication you can’t be in a contact sport."

While it appears to be unclear how long White will be out, one thing is for sure, he is out this weekend. Could this mean Nate Jaqua finally gets back into the starting lineup? I think so.

Sigi has not officially announced who will start Saturday against Toronto, but he did hint that Jaqua would be the obvious choice to fill the role.

Other options for the Sounders are Mike Fucito, who has speed that will be lost in the absence of White. Sigi also included Lamar Neagle as a player who could see some time up front.

Mauro Rosales has been battling a hamstring injury that has limited him in training all week. He would be another huge loss for the Sounders if he were unable to go Saturday.
