Most notably, King scored the winning goal against the Houston Dynamo in the Open Cup semi-final match in Tukwila last July. That 2-1 win sent the Sounders to our nation’s capital to face DC United and eventually earn the team’s first trophy in franchise history.

Sounders FC acquired King from the 2009 expansion draft from the Chicago Fire at the start of the season. Given the success of Osvaldo Alonso and Peter Vagenas at the midfield, King found it troubling to contribute here in Seattle on a regular basis.
