The Seahawks made moves Monday, initially signing DE Darryl Tapp and releasing starting safety Deon Grant. Earlier Monday, the ‘hawks signed wide receiver Ruvell Martin to a one-year deal and former Patriot tight end Chris Baker to a multiyear deal, all part of the fluctuations under new head coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Schneider.
In this typical defensive end swap, Clemons joins the Seattle Seahawks under contract through the 2012 season at base salaries of $1.2 million, $2.3 million, and $3 million respectively.
The move suggests that a convenient sign-and-trade transaction has occurred on Darryl Tapp’s behalf, but speculation is currently rising that this is a bridge toward something bigger. In turn, this move may have been made mostly concerning the availability of WR Brandon Marshall and his campaign of joining the Seahawks as well this offseason.
