Fredy Montero created the first clear scoring opportunity after Freddie Ljungberg found him in space in the 17th minute. Montero lifted the ball over Chivas USA 'keeper Zach Thorton but his shot drifted wide of the left-hand post.

A cynical tackle by Lillingston on Ljungberg produced the first yellow card of the match in the 20th minute.

Chivas USA were able to spring Seattle's offside trap as Jonathan Bornstein took a ball down the left-hand channel. Bornstein played the ball near post and a scramble with Riley and Lillingston found the ball in the back of the net.

Thorton was called into action in the 42nd minute, Sounders forward Nate Jaqua sending a ball in for Sebastian Le Toux. Thorton was able to pluck the ball out of the air.

Watch for Seattle to pick the pace up in the second half, while Chivas USA will try to slow the game down and keep possession of the ball.
