SEAHAWKS: Reading the field - Team unlikely to trade down despite recent rumors


Teams like the Redskins might be asking themselves, "Are the Seahawks really thinking of taking Mark Sanchez no. 4?"

Recent reports suggest the Seahawks and Redskins might be in talks for a draft trade, with the 'Skins swapping for Seattle's no. 4 pick in hopes of attaining Sanchez.

While the Redskins are allegedly sending out "feelers" to test the cost for the no. 4 pick, GM Tim Ruskell seemingly cleared the air on that rumor, saying that he thought the team was stuck with choosing no. 4 come April 25.

“Those of us at the top don’t sense that we’re going down,” Ruskell said. “The phone’s not ringing off the hook for that. I would say if there’s movement and change you will see it below us, you know eight to 10 to 12, then you might see it.”
Meanwhile, Sanchez met with the Redskins last night.

Chris Sullivan says the meeting will be crucial for the Seahawks' chances of trading down.
This could have some significant impact on how the Redskins feel about Sanchez and trading up for him.

The numbers are of course great. He threw for 3,207 yards with 34 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. It should be noted that he did so without the usual suspects of elite college talent surrounding him. He was undoubtedly USC's best player on offense.
