Not a single fan was disappointed when Ken Griffey Jr. returned to Seattle as the Mariners defeated the Angels 3-2 in 10 innings.

After hitting a single to right in his first at bat, Griffey then broke up a would-be inning ending double play sliding hard into second and forcing Angels short stop Erick Aybar to overthrow to first scoring Ronny Cedeno from third.

Safe at first on a fielders choice, Adrian Beltre then stole second for his first steal of the season.

The hero of the game however was short stop Yuneski Betancourt who laid down a sacrifice bunt in the bottom of the 10th. On the play, Angels pitcher Scott Shields hurled a wild throw to first and Franklin Gutierrez was able to score easily.

Carlos Silva rebounded from his rough outing in Minnesota eating up seven innings and striking out four. Silva allowed 2 runs, both earned, on four hits and one walk.

The Angels tied the game in the fourth when Silva plunked Howard Kendrick. Bobby Abreu moved Kendrick to third on a doubled to left-center and Vladimir Guerrero scored Kendrick grounded out to third.

Seattle took back the lead in the fifth on a one-out walk to Gutierrez and back-to-back singles by Betancourt and Endy Chavez.

Silva gave the lead righ back in the sixth when Torii Hunter launched a solo home run to left field.
