Fransworth reports Seahawks starting right guard Mike Wahle has been placed on the injured reserve list, making that 12 Seahawks on the list. Wahle is the 12th man, if you will...
He injured his surgically repaired shoulder during the Cardinals game. Center Steve McKinney was signed to filled the roster spot.
ON WAHLE
This is another unfortunate injury for the Seahawks because Wahle solidified the left side of the line with all-pro tackle Walter Jones. However, the most salient aspect of his play has been procedural penalties, accruing six penalties, most notably a game changer against the Miami Dolphins while trying to tie the game in the waning minutes on a two-point conversion.
Engram caught the pass by backup QB Seneca Wallace only to have the game-tying two-point conversion negated by Wahle's false start penalty. Backed up five yards, the Seahawks failed to convert on the next play and lost the game.
Wahle is aging, but he brings 11 years of experience and toughness. He is, without a doubt, the second best OL on the Seahawks roster, next to Walter Jones. If he sticks next season, hopefully he can shore up his procedural problems.
ON McKINNEY
McKinney has ample experience (10 season) at center and guard. He was drafted out of Texas A&M in the fourth round by the Colts and played their for four years, starting 30 games. He then moved on to the Texans as a free agent, starting every game for four years until 2006. He tore his ACL in 2007 and was released the next season. The Dolphins picked him up in 2008 but released him 2008.
