Stud Texas Tech receiver Michael Crabtree is still undecided about declaring for the NFL draft, according to numerous reports. In fact Crabtree made statements saying he will stay another year at Texas Tech
His father is understandably surprised.
Crabtree, undoubtedly a top 10 draft pick, is a front-runner for the Seahawk's first round draft choice in the minds of many Seahawks fans.
His father still believes his son, a sophomore, will declare for the draft this season.
CRABTREE A SEAHAWK
Since being hired as General Manager of the Seahawks in 2005, the Seahawks have drafted two linemen (Spencer 05 and Jackson 08) and a cornerback (Jennings 06) as first-round picks (07 we didn't have a no. 1 pick)
The Jennings pick indicates Ruskell will not shy away from choosing a skill position in the first round, such as Crabtree, which is contrary to a belief among many fans that Ruskell is always looking for a lineman in the first. The Seahawks are looking at a no. 4 pick as of now, which may be too high of a value to pick up Crabtree.
At 6-3 and 214, Crabtree possesses exotic play making abilities that would be hard to pass up, especially with needs at the receiving corps for the Seahawks. Engram will be a free agent next year and Branch has proven to be a liability, playing in about half of the games he's been under contract for. Seattle's backups haven't shown the ability to get open or run crisp routes in the NFL minus a few exceptions. Logan Payne shows flashes of skill but was quickly placed on the IR in the second game of the season. Ben Obamanu, improving season to season, didn't play in 2008.
