SOUNDERS FC: David Estrada out until September

Season two of the Sounders’ MLS odyssey has not gone as expected. An inability to stop attacks, score goals or stay healthy has put Seattle’s hopes of a second playoff birth in serious jeopardy. To make matters worse, the Sounders front office announced yesterday that David Estrada has been placed on the Injured Reserve list.

The announcement, which came prior to the Sounders' defeat of D.C. United, indicated that the 22-year-old Estrada had sprained his right hamstring as well as the first toe of his right foot. Estrada is required to miss at least six MLS matches and will be eligible to return to league competition against the New England Revolution on September 4.

Estrada, who played four years at UCLA, made his professional debut on April 3, 2010, coming on as a substitute against the New York Red Bulls and has appeared in three MLS games, with one start at FC Dallas. Seattle selected Estrada with the 11th overall pick in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft.
