SOUNDERS FC: Third-Round US Open Cup match tonight in Portland

Seattle Sounders FC face-off against their Northwest-rival Portland Timbers tonight for a third-round match in the US Open Cup at 7:30pm in Portland’s PGE Park. Tonight marks the first step for the Sounders to defend their first trophy of the franchise, which was won last summer in our nation’s capital.

After losing 3-1 in Philadelphia and failing to gain more points in the MLS, the Sounders are willing to focus their efforts and treat tonight as a top priority.

Naturally, the Sounders are not expected to start the same lineup that was present this past weekend, nor for their upcoming league match against the LA Galaxy this Sunday, which will gives fans a great opportunity to analyze and observe the reserves and other role players the squad has to offer.

If the team wins, the Sounders will host the Galaxy at the Starfire Complex in Tukwila for a quarterfinal match, which is certainly within the realm of possibility.

Kickoff begins tonight, as mentioned, at 7:30pm and is scheduled to air on FSN.
