SEAHAWKS: Spencer signs tender

Chris Spencer will likely anchor the line
at center.

Center Chris Spencer signed his restricted free agent tender today, worth $2.42 million for one year. Spencer will become an unrestricted free agent by the end of the season if he is not signed to an extension.

RG/C Max Unger replaced Spencer at center during the last month of games as then-head coach Jim Mora Jr. attempted to find a working combination of linemen.

Many expected Unger to remain at the position. However, Alex Gibbs saw things differently, moving Spencer back to his more natural center position and Unger back to right guard.

The first-team offensive line as of now is LT Russell Okung, LG Ben Hamilton, C Chris Spencer, RG Max Unger and RT Sean Locklear. Unger could possibly be replaced if the team signs UFA Chester Pitts.

The formation appears much more fitting for the squad than last year's team, which had Locklear playing LT due to Walter Jones' absence.

Spencer and Locklear have not played full seasons since 2007, missing a combined 18 starts. Injuries will likely determine the overall play of the offensive line this year.
