SEAHAWKS: OG Pitts says Seahawks are "front runners" for his services

Free agent guard Chester Pitts said the Seahawks are currently the lead team for his services, according to a Fox Sports article.

Pitts had started every game since 2002 until a season ending knee injury in 2009, which led to microfracture surgery.

“I’d say [the Seahawks are] the front runner for greatest need and best fit,” Pitts said.

Pitts said he will be ready to compete by training camp if a team takes a chance on him. Seattle has already visited with him earlier this offseason in March.

Offensive line coach Alex Gibbs is familiar with Pitts after previously coaching him in Houston's zone blocking scheme.

The Seahawks have already signed guard Ben Hamilton to fill in for guard Rob Sims after he was traded to Detroit. Pitts would likely compete for a starting spot with second-year guard Max Unger. At the least, Pitts would serve as good depth on the line.
