MARINERS: Woes continue, lose seventh straight

Not even Felix Hernandez could save the struggling Mariners. Losing 8-0 in Seattle to rivals Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, the Mariners lost their seventh game in a row and couldn’t muster a hit until the seventh inning.

Felix only lasted 3.1 innings, giving up all eight runs in the game in his worst outing of the season. He gave up four of those in the 1st and the Angels never looked back.

It took Griffey’s single in the seventh to break up the no-hitter, giving the struggling batter only his 16th hit of the season. Recent call-up Michael Saunders doubled in the eighth, advancing the base-on-balls recipient Rob Johnson with only one out.

However, a strike out by Ichiro Suzuki and a pop-up to shortstop by Chone Figgins ended the offensive rustle just as quickly as it began.
Tomorrow, the Mariners face Joe Saunders (1-5, 7.04 ERA) while sending seasonal surprise Doug Fister (2-1, 1.29 ERA) to the mound.
