MARINERS: Erik Bedard return date pushed back after painful simulated game

Don Wakamatsu announced Thursday that starter Erik Bedard won’t make his 2010 season debut until late June. No date has been officially set for the lefty’s comeback, as he is returning from off-season shoulder surgery.

The news comes as a bit of a negative for the squad, as coaches and manager Don Wakamatsu were hopeful Bedard would return to the starting rotation by the end of this month. However, Bedard had a minor setback last week when he felt discomfort while throwing a simulated game.
After throwing this upcoming weekend, the team is hoping to send Erik to Arizona at their spring training facility to throw a couple of bullpen sessions and simulated games before starting rehab again in June.
